The dark skies and the rugged seashores of Maine where artist Greg Mort has lived and painted for the past twenty summers inspired "Stream of Stars". This fascinating image brings together the realms of the intimate and infinite just as the sea meets the rocky coast of Maine.
With this breathtaking image artist Greg Mort enables the viewer in "Stream of Stars" to lie among the wonderful beach rubble with its multitude of textures and at the same time gaze above at the endless star filled skies of the Milky Way. The stark white detail of the shells offers a striking contrast to the expansive and illusive midnight blue universe above. Mort has been captivated by the mysteries of shells and has been a serious collector throughout his life. Mort chose "Stream of Stars" as one of his limited edition lithographs to share his love of shells and of the Milky Way.
The original watercolor painting of "Stream of Stars" is in a private collection in the state of Washington. The overall image size of the limited edition four color lithograph of "Stream of Stars" is 21" X 21". It was printed on museum quality Mohawk Superfine eighty pound paper by the fine artisans of Westland Printers in Burtonsville, Maryland. Each piece is individually hand titled, number and signed by the artist. "Stream of Stars" was published in a limited edition of only nine hundred and fifty.
